The ancient Greek Olympics were similar to the modern Olympics, but there were a few differences. The Olympics in ancient Greece consisted of some of the same sports we see today in the summer Olympics. The long jump is the same as it is today. There are also short sprints measuring in between 180 and 240 m. A Pankration was a fighting competition which combined wrestling and boxing. The discus throw and the javelin throw are where they would throw and see who could throw it the furthest. There are some sports that we do not see in the modern summer Olympics. Chariot racing was where they would race chariots around a track. Hoplitodromos was a theatrical event and was the grand finale of the Olympics. It was a race in almost full armor with a shield. They were dressed in armor to show that the Olympic Treaty was almost over. There were no women allowed at the Olympic Games.Women were second-class people, like slaves and foreigners. Athletes were required to train for 10 months, too long for a woman to be out of the house. Being defeated by a woman would probably have been a disgrace. Everyone in ancient Greece liked the Olympics because it was a chance to prove that their state was best.
women weren't allowed to go to the Olympics
It doesn't make sense that women weren't allowed to go to the Olympics. If women were allowed in all they could do was watch the game. The women could have an effect on the Olympics. It would be a small effect but that could throw the games slightly. In some cases it doesn't make sense that women weren't allowed to go to the Olympics but in others they should have been allowed to go.
